Inspired by Joseph Beuys’s idea of “social sculpture”, Out of Many brings together seven distinct artists to distribute their specific ideas and intentions into the world through the far-reaching forum of an art fair.
Post-war German artist Joseph Beuys created the term “social sculpture” to encompass his belief that both art and human creativity have the potential to transform society and enact social and political change. He conceived of his “multiples” as a way to distribute these intentions and ideas to a much larger audience.
